The people of earth are far from the way they were only a quarter century before. Human’s have learned to get along and build habitats with the new race of beast-men. Many of those new settlements even thriving in the blood soaked desolation.

Humans have fallen back onto a more primitive style of society. Surviving in smaller numbers and in some cases being almost nomadic in nature. Human “settlements” are often placed near and within the edges of the old cities; keeping their distance so not to attract attention.
While maintaining a small amount of technology and education each settlement is quickly becoming specialized in different skills and technologies.
Human’s sense of society has grown greatly. Often now more fearful of outsiders and less willing to change from what they know as “safe”. Having developed an isolationist-clan mentality.
Trade among different settlements is quite prevalent, but usually only through a mutually trusted third party. These “Trade Caravans” rarely make residence within a single settlement, but instead have encampments or stations with-in the borders of many, marking their territory.

While not as numerous, only about 1 beast-man for every 15-20 humans, they have advantages over many humans. Special traits that seem linked to their subspecies.

Although different subspecies exist it seems that their species has little do do with their breeding. As Feline (Cat) subspecies are born to Ursa (Bear) and Uvis (Sheep/Ram) to Canis (Wolf). Some say that even Human/Beast-Man matching have a chance to produce either kind of offspring. A beast-man traits, such as fur and build, are dependent on whether they were born to beasts or to humans.
Each subspecies of beast-man takes on traits similar to their animal species. Larger species, such as a Spanish Bull or Polar Bear, will have a larger frame; averaging 6-7 feet tall and broad shouldered. While similarly a “Panda” species might be a 6 foot and about 350-400 pounds. Example traits that fit the different species are often along the following AVERAGES, with variation by specific species.

1 = Small/Slender/Weak (137.2 cm / 34.1 kg)
3 = Human Average (175.3 cm / 75 kg)
5 = Large/Broad/Strong (228.6 cm / 204.5 kg)

Species Build Height Weight
Feline (Cat) 3 3 2-3
Ursa (Bear) 4-5 4-5 4-5
Uvis (Sheep/Ram) 2 2-3 2-3
Canis (Wolf) 3 3-4 3-4
Leporidae (Rabbit) 2 2 2
Sciuridae (Squirrel/Rodents) 2 1 1
Proboscidea (Elephants) 5 4-5 4-5

When born to Human parents a beast-man will often have more human facial features and musculature as well as a lighter “patching” of fur and body hair. While born to beast parents a beast-man will often have facial feature more appropriate to their species, a animalistic musculature or even traits such as claws if applicable. Either way a prominent HUMAN skeletal system is always present in their build, only giving to slight variations for muscle build.

Little to no racism among the species exists as they are constantly pitted against a common enemy. Magic, while still rare, has become another constant in the lives of many people. Aiding in the search for water and in building.
